DIY Cookie cutter ornaments

There are a few things that bring out the nostalgia about the family recipes and the Christmas cookies are among those few things that bring out that nostalgic feeling. This is why we designed the today’s tree ornaments for commemorating the favorite cookie cutters in this DIY Cookie Cutter ornaments project.

These DIY cookie cutter ornaments were created by tracing the cutters and then adorning them with the icing of embroidery. They are a great way of crafting the goodies that are not going to get spoilt even if the holidays end. These Diy cookie cutter ornaments can also be used as last-minute gifts and you can also hang them on your Christmas tree.




To make these DIY cookie cutter ornaments, one will need the following supplies.

  • Felt; wool felt is the best for this kind of project
  • Cookie cutters
  • Embroidery floss
  • Sewing thread
  • Embroidery and hand-sewing needles
  • Scissors
  • Fiberfill
  • Scissors
  • Decorative cord


Step 1:-

The first step of making the DIY cookie cutter ornaments is to trace the shapes of cookies.  For this use the cookie cutter and a pen for tracing the two shapes of cookie onto a piece of felt and then cutting them out.


Step 2:-

This is the step where one will need to do some embroidery. Use 3 strands of embroidery floss and making use of the simple stitches, add certain details that one would normally make with the icing. The same design can be stitched onto the back and front of these cookie cutter ornaments.


Step 3:-

Now put the back and front of the ornament with each other with opposite sides facing each and other and then joining them around their perimeter using the whipstitch and a single strand of the sewing thread.

Leave the opening of about 2 inches in this stitching and then lightly stuff this cookie-cutter ornament with the fiberfill and then stitch the opening closed.


Step 4:-

Thread a small length of the decorative cord under the stitching near the ornament’s top edge and tie that in a knot for making a loop.
