We are inspired by the beauty of the natural and beautiful plants which led to us completing today’s Diy project we like to call DIY recycled quilt flowers. For these DIY recycled quilt flowers, we went for the modern fabrics and the potted plants which were hand-sewn and constructed by hands.
The great thing about the Diy recycled quilt flowers project is that it can make use of any old and dying quilt around the house to make something which does not look shabby. Rather than throwing that old quilt, you can make it something for increasing the decor of your house.
For making these Diy recycled quilt flowers, you will need these following materials.
- 16 and 18 gauge floral wire
- Floral tape
- Half yard of fabric
- Fusible interfacing
- Pinking shears
- Coordinating thread
- Sewing machine
The first step towards making these Diy recycled quilt flowers is to use your floral tape for wrapping around the length of the 18-gauge floral wire.
Then use your wire cutters to cut this ire into 3-inch equal pieces.
Now create the leaf pattern of your desired size. We went ahead with a leaf pattern which was about 3.5 inches in length.
For creating the double-sided leaves, you need to fold the fabric in half and then cut this fabric in a leaf shape using the earlier-created leaf pattern. Got this arrangement, we went ahead with the 84 double-sided leaves of fabric.
Cut the interfacing in a triangular shape which is small as it is enough to fit in-between the 2 sides of the leaf. Use the iron for fusing the 2 sides of every leaf with each other.
On your sewing machine start stitching this leaf pattern in a zigzag stitch and sew around the edges of every leaf.
Use the pinking shears for cutting around the edge of every leaf.
Use the zigzag stitch to sew each of these leaves onto the 3-inch long pieces of the wrapped floral wire.
Once again, use your floral tape to wrap about 7 of the stemmed leaves on the long length of the 16-gauge wire. Start from the upper side of the wire and work downward while keeping these stemmed leaves flat against this long wire. Repeat this whole process until the desired number of the pot branches are constructed.
Now bend each of these leaves gently away from the main stem in its desired position.
Arrange these floral branches in the vase of your choice for creating a stunning fabric arrangement. There you have it; your DIY recycled quilt flowers project is ready. This can also be used as a last-minute gift.
