While there is no denying of the fact that a Christmas cannot be called complete without having a Christmas tree but whoever said it that you cannot make up a DIY Christmas tree for Christmas. Well as it happens to be we have come upon a Christmas tree DIY idea that will actually stay with you for the rest of the year if you wish for it to be. The name of our Diy idea is the Wooden Christmas tree.
The great thing about this wooden Christmas tree is that it is a minimalistic one so it won’t even be taking up a lot of space in the hose. Or you can perhaps create a bunch of them and have them decorated and spread across the entire house to create a magical Christmas this year. Well, the end choice is yours to make. We can only show you how to make this wooden Christmas tree.
Things you will need for making the wooden Christmas tree are as follows.
- A square piece of steel of about 20*20 cm dimensions
- A steel rod of about 1-meter length
- Drill along with its wooden and steel bits
- Welding tools
- A metal ring that comes with a screw; this will be used for holding those wooden braches in place
- Wooden planks for making the branches
- Black paint
- Wood oil
The process for making the wooden Christmas tree has been divided into 2 separate parts for the ease of the DIY process. Te first will make up for the base of the tree while the second one will form the branches of the tree.
Making The Base:-
Use the steel bit and then drill a hole right through the center of the square steel piece.
Weld the steel rod within this drilled hole to hold them both together tightly.
Take the metal ruing and attach it. Now screw it onto the steel rod at the height that you deem fit. For example, we screwed our metal ring about 20 cm from the base.
This step is optional and it involves painting the whole base of the wooden Christmas tree. You can paint it in any color you like.
Making the Branches:-
In order to create the wooden Christmas tree that you saw a template above, you will need at least 31 pieces of the wood. But the whole project can be scaled if you desire the tree to be of minimalist size.
All the wood pieces should be of a 1-inch width square on all of their sides. All the pieces should be at least 2 cm longer than the previous piece. The shortest piece, which will be used for the top of the tree, is going to be a 1-inch cube while the longest wood piece should be of 64.6 cm length.
After all the cuts have bee made, drill the hole through the center of each wood piece but refrain from drilling the hole all the way through form the short wood piece. This will allow for the short wood piece to make the wooden Christmas tree to have a cap.
After the pieces are cut and drilled all the way through, expect the shortest one; stain all of them with the wood oil.
After the oil on all wood pieces has dried up, add them one by one starting from the longest one, onto the metal base of the Christmas tree. After all of the wooden pieces are on the metal base; spin the tree around.
